Root canal performed on a cracked mollar, without using any dye or CT scan before procedure. Dr. Steiner assured after using the microscope only that crack didn't go below gum line. He performed root canal, which after 3 days began to ache & throb. Another visit, put me on antibiotic, which did nothing to ease pain. Dr. Elfervig, dentist, was anxious to crown tooth (required full payment for crown even before placed in mouth), so this was done after 2 weeks. Told by both dentist & Dr. Strimer that I have TMJ. Dr. Steiner then did a CT scan after crown on, to check for a hidden canal. No ither canal, but said root canal was all good. His conclusion was that it was my bite. Back to dentist, who checked bite, referred me to sacral cranial specialist, who gave me a soft bite guard and guided meditation. Still pain in tooth, jaw & ear canal. Consulted another endodontist, who suggested reopening tooth & placing medication into canals. Recontacted Dr. Strimer, who said he could do that, but had never offered that option on the several visits I made to his office. After 4 months of pain, he did that procedure, which didn't releive pain. His comment was that some people can just learn to live with this "annoyance". I have paid over $2500 after insurance out of pocket fir rioot canal, crown, CT scan, and will now add another $620 to that total to have tooth extracted this week. If your tooth is diagnosed as cracked, do not consider a root canal at Manatee Endodontist.
