Root Canal Treatment

Non-surgical endodontic
(root canal) treatment is performed as follows:
First, the doctor reviews all of the pertinent information about you and your tooth, including x-rays. Local anesthetic is applied and the area to be worked on is prepared by placing a dental dam around the infected tooth. This is used to keep oral bacteria out of the tooth. The endodontist makes a small hole in the tooth, and cleans and shapes the root canal spaces. After the root canal space is cleaned and shaped, the canals are dried and sealed. A temporary filling is then administered to fill the opening until you are able to see your dentist.
